BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Gov. Brad Little Brig. Gen. Timothy J. Donnellan will serve as Idaho's next adjutant general.
Donnellan will succeed outgoing Adjutant General and Idaho National Guard Commanding General Maj. Gen. Michael J. Garshak, who retires after 37 years of military service. Donnellan's appointment will take effect on June 25.
Donnellan serves as the Idaho Air National Guard commander and assistant adjutant general-Air. Upon his appointment, he will become Idaho's 26th adjutant general, assuming command of the Idaho Army and Air National Guard.
As adjutant general, he will also join Governor Little's cabinet as the director of the Idaho Military Division, overseeing critical functions such as Idaho's Office of Emergency Management.
Donnellan, who joined the Air Force in 1992 and earned his commission through ROTC, has been a member of the Idaho Air National Guard since 2002 after serving on active duty as a security forces officer, an air liaison officer and an A/OA-10 instructor pilot.

Donnellan is a combat veteran A-10 pilot with over 3,300 flight hours, primarily in the A-10 Thunderbolt II.
As commander of the Idaho Air National Guard, he ensures the continued readiness of over 1,300 Airmen, overseeing critical missions such as close air support to troops in a combat environment, cyber operations ensuring dominance throughout cyberspace and providing electronic simulations of ground-based air defense threats in a training environment.
