Christian De Sica is an Italian actor, director, scriptwriter, and singer. He has directed the films Count Max, Faccione, Ricky & Barabba, Men Men Men, 3, Simpatici & antipatici, The Clan, Amici come prima, and Sono solo fantasmi. He wrote the first film, and co-wrote all of the rest. He starred in all but the second. He also co-wrote the film Vacanze ai Caraibi.
He is the son of prominent Italian director and actor Vittorio De Sica (Vittorio Domenico Stanislao Gaetano Sorano de Sica) and Spanish actress María Mercader (María Asunción Mercader Forcada). His father was of Campanian background. He is married to Silvia Verdone, with whom he has two children. Silvia is the sister of actor, screenwriter, and film director Carlo Verdone.
María Mercader’s half-brother, Ramón Mercader, was a Spanish communist who assassinated Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky in 1940 in Mexico.
Christian’s paternal grandfather was Umberto Efisio De Sica (the son of Domenico De Sica or Sica and Agnese Carmela Camilla Antonia Anna Giordano). Umberto was born in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. Domenico was the son of Ferdinando De Sica and Maria Teresa Pastore, who were from Curti di Giffoni Valle Piana, Salerno, Campania. Agnese was the daughter of Neapolitan parents, Giuseppe Giordano and Maria Antonia Di Mauro.
